FBU is a one-day educational forum designed to help provide knowledge and networking that can help position early-stage CPG entrepreneurs for successful launch and growth. It will take place at Austin’s Brazos Hall on Feb. 10, 2015. Added as speakers are:

  • Scott Jensen, the CEO of fast-growing veggie snack company Rhythm Superfoods and the co-founder and former CEO of One World Foods (Stubb’s Bar-B-Q). Mr. Jensen, who continues to run Rhythm Superfoods as it goes through a period of rapid growth and remains an active investor and advisor to a variety of new and growing food and beverage companies, will mine his experience to offer attendees a look at ways they can set up their brands to have a fighting chance in the highly-competitive CPG environment.
  • Brette Simon, an experienced General Counsel/M&A Advisor to food and beverage companies. Ms. Simon, who has advised large and small CPG companies through the years on numerous capital raises, strategic alliances, and exit transactions, will offer the audience at FBU Austin an introduction to the “Language of Fundraising” that will provide an outline of capital raise structures and decipher the complicated-seeming contents of a term sheet, as well as the secrets of avoiding investment terms that can hurt company founders during the fundraising process.
  • Shari Wynne Ressler, Founder & President of Austin-based Consumer Products accelerator SKU (formerly Incubation Station) and founder/CEO of MWR Legal, which provides legal services to startups and growth companies. Mrs. Ressler, an entrepreneur and attorney who has made it her mission to help foster the success of entrepreneurs and their companies, will discuss many of the key legal and business considerations unique to innovative food and beverage companies as they launch, grow, and develop their brands, internal and external teams, and face new contractual relationships. She will also give insight into the acceleration process championed by Incubation Station/SKU and its stable of investors and advisors, as well as some of the common challenges faced by those companies that have gone through that process.

More speakers and a complete program list will be announced for FBU Austin in the near future.

Alongside the fast-growing list of entrepreneurs and experts speaking and joining panels, FBU events feature several networking opportunities for attendees to meet with speakers, BevNET’s own team, and the system of retailers, distributors, investors and suppliers that form the primary contacts of the food and beverage entrepreneur.

FBU is BevNET’s educational platform, a business development series originally known as Beverage School, that it has run for the benefit of new Food & Beverage entrepreneurs and their employees since 2009. BevNET’s track record in providing relevant business development content is evident through its video subscription service at Food & Beverage University (, a collection of focused interviews with CPG experts that offer insight into all levels of strategy for food and beverage product entrepreneurs.

Early registration for the event is open now through January 10th, don’t miss your opportunity to get in early and save!
