Admin and Farmers Market Assistant
Whisked!, DC’s number one local cookie brand, is on a mission to bring homemade, high quality baked goods to local grocery store shelves. Whisked! is a scratch-based wholesale bakery that produces three product lines - pies, quiches, and cookies. We bake everything fresh for our clients, because all our products are preservative-free, with clean labels. Whisked! started in 2011 selling at farmers markets, and quickly became a local hit. Now we’re carried in more than 70 + stores in the District, Baltimore, and surrounding suburbs. We’re also the exclusive local cookie provide for CAVA.
We’re seeking an Administrative and Farmers Market Assistant who will help our management team with administrative tasks, such processing shipping orders, managing our email inbox, answering phones, scheduling in-store demos, and performing demos as needed. This position is also responsible for preparing for our four farmers’ markets (including updating signage, packing supply boxes, and creating a baking schedule), and will work markets to supplement our team. This position will assist other departments as needed, such as boxing product on a large order day, helping with deliveries, organizing supplies, and other tasks as they arise.
This is a good entry-level job for candidates who want to learn about the specialty food and bakery industry. We’re looking for someone who’s organized, responsible, willing to learn, and passionate about the food industry.
General Duties Include:
Prepping for farmers’ markets - packing supply boxes, creating a baking schedule based on sales history, updating signage, and communicating with market workers
Working at farmers markets as needed
Creating the monthly farmers market staff schedule
Office management, including ordering office supplies, answering phones, keeping office organized
Scheduling in-store demos with partner stores and performing demos when needed
Responding to customer inquiries via Facebook and email
Fulfilling shipping orders
Helping out with events, such as community fairs, holiday markets, and classes
Maintaining marketing, demo, and event calendars
Assisting other departments as needed - such as performing deliveries, packaging product on busy days, taking photos for Instagram, copy editing, and/or helping with order fulfillment
1 year work experience (doesn’t need to be professional - retail, food service, restaurant experience, or other jobs worked during high school or college is great)
Strong interest in the food industry
Strong communication skills, including phone, written, and face-to-face
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google office products
Creative and flexible team member
Able to work well independently
Problem solver, who can maximize their resources
Highly organized with good attention to detail
Must have a car
