ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Improve overall efficiencies, per mile transaction costs, and overall stats in warehouse, fleet, and facilities by managing and coordinating all operational activity for the warehouse, facility, fleet, and drivers while working closely and in unity with multiple department managers. This includes working side by side with drivers in the field to monitor deliveries, service levels, processes, and logistics recommending measures to improve operational practices and customer care; working side by side with warehouse staff to understand the processes and procedures to ensure that the systems in place are efficient and effective.  Provide feedback on ideas for improvement in all areas and create protocols and procedures where needed based upon company’s bandwidth and demands.  Recommend measures to improve operational practices and customer care. 

Coordinate with outside service technicians to maintain a small fleet of trucks ensuring that they are up to all regulatory and mechanical standards including ARB, DOT and FMSCA. Certify that all truck maintenance logs, BIT documents, DMV, insurance, and truck/fleet documentation is current and up to date to meet company’s and drivers’ regulatory needs.

Work with outside agency to develop safety program.  Constantly monitor safety practices for each team/department and recommend areas of improvement on an as needed basis. Developing protocols suitable to meet regulations while working within budgetary means. 

Ensure positive and exceptional communication within all service areas by working directly with other departments to resolve customer service & delivery issues; improve flow of products coming in and going out.  Work with Office Manager to ensure that all processes flow well and any discrepancies can be proactively caught and remedied immediately – all customer issues to be dealt with a great sense of urgency. 

Analyze all operational activities, i.e., service levels, routing efficiency, labor & overtime, fuel, etc. to develop strategies to help improve in all area of operations not limited to but including; fuel efficiency, vehicle maintenance, refrigerated warehouse maintenance, equipment upgrades, and maintenance, etc. Create protocols that help decrease down time for fleet and any equipment by suggesting service contracts, maintenance programs, etc – all that fall within company’s needs and meet budgetary means.

Obtain knowledge of all company assets in inventory and proper cleaning, repair, and storage.

Special projects as assigned by management.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

This position will supervise driver manager, warehouse manager, and drivers. Review, approve, and schedule time off requests based on operational necessity. Review any time card discrepancies and report accurately prior to submitting for payroll.  Works with outside Safety & HR agency to coordinate training, where necessary.
Responsible for employee development & conducting periodic performance reviews. Supervise, suggest, seek out, and find competitive service providers for all maintenance activities and services related to full operation of the company.  Create and maintain a positive, safe, effective and efficient work environment. 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: 

Associate’s Degree (AA) from two-year college or technical school and 2-5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have a CDL A or B license and experience driving trucks requiring a CDL license. Mechanical and ability to manage a fleet of 10+ trucks. Warehouse and truck refrigeration systems experience a huge plus.  Additional requirements include: experience with multi-stop routing system; dispatch procedures; computer knowledge, and experience with routing/logistics software.
