Marlo’s Bakeshop Launches ‘Heirloom’ Product Line

SAN FRANCISCO — Just in time for the holidays, Marlo’s Bakeshop’s new Sweet Heat Double Chocolate Chip Cookies have arrived in festive red packaging, spiced up with a kick of cayenne and cinnamon to warm up cold winter days.

Marlo’s Bakeshop’s inaugural line of soft-baked biscotti is based on founder Marlo Giudice’s grandmother’s secret recipe.

“Since we’ve had so much fun sharing these cookies with our customers, we thought it would be really interesting and exciting to expand the brand by celebrating & sharing other families’ secret recipes,” Giudice said of the innovation.

Using the power of social media to source sweet treats from people all over the country, Marlo’s Bakeshop was inundated with stories and recipes from generations of bakers. Sweet Heat Double Chocolate Chip Cookies are sourced from a gentleman who developed the recipe after attending a chili pepper festival. Inspired by a mug of Mexican hot chocolate, these cookies combine rich cocoa with the sweet spice & subtle heat of cinnamon and cayenne pepper, studded with Guittard chocolate chips.

“We put the creator’s image & story on the product packaging,” Giudice said. “Because we wanted to celebrate the genesis of this recipe. We also believe this imparts the cookies’ authentic origin story, which resonates with consumers who seek a connection with the food they eat.”

Marlo’s Bakeshop updated the recipe to meet the demands of today’s shopper, using organic ingredients like heart-healthy coconut oil, securing the Non-GMO Project’s verification and packaging the product in sustainable Forestry Certified paper. The cookies are also allergen-friendly as they are dairy-, nut-and soy-free. Sweet Heat Double Chocolate Chip Cookies are the first product in the brand’s new Heirloom line with additional SKUs planned for 2018.

Sweet Heat Double Chocolate Chip Cookies are available for shipping now in an elegant gusset box with a 1.5oz grab ‘n’ go pack scheduled to or release in early 2018.
