Humphry Slocombe Ice Cream and Chef Melissa King Launch New Flavor

San Francisco, Calif.– Humphry Slocombe Ice Cream and Chef Melissa King have teamed up to create a new ice cream flavor exclusively for Whole Foods Market. The flavor, Hong Kong Milk Tea, is inspired by the sweet caffeinated beverage that keeps Hong Kong hustling. Pints arrive exclusively to Whole Foods Market Northern California stores May 5. The pints will also be available for a limited time at Humphry Slocombe scoop shops in San Francisco.

Made with Numi Organic Tea and filled with almond cookies, Hong Kong Milk Tea is a chef collaboration between Melissa King and Jake Godby, Humphry Slocombe’s executive chef. Melissa King is a Chinese-American chef whose culinary combinations have a modern, international flair. She connected with Humphry Slocombe through her work as a Whole Foods Market Chef Ambassador, and grew up drinking Hong Kong Milk Tea.

“This is the perfect drink to turn into an ice cream… with access to both the best local producers and retail space for chef-driven local products, WFM was the perfect partner to bring us together. – Melissa King

Humphry Slocombe co-founder and executive chef, Jake Godby, who has been called the Willy Wonka of ice cream, worked with Chef King, Numi Organic Tea, and local product experts at Whole Foods Market to turn one of Chef King’s favorite traditional drinks into a frozen masterpiece.

“I wanted to express the simple pleasure of milk and cookies using the flavor profiles of Melissa’s background” – Jake Godby

Pints are $9.99 at Whole Foods Market. Availability may vary; customers can call stores for more information.
