Granny Pearl’s Kitchen Debuts New Bite Size Cookies

According to Connect Magazine, three top food and beverage industry trends are:

  • bite size portions
  • locally-sourced food
  • upscale comfort food

The new line of bite size cookies by Granny Pearl’s Kitchen merges all three trends. Six cookie flavors debuted at the specialty food event: sugardoodle, chocolate chip, pecan chocolate chip, peanut butter, pecan sandies, and lemon tea cookies. The seventh cookie flavor, the Mexican wedding cookie, will be available later this year. These southern gourmet treats are handcrafted in a local bakery on St. Simons Island, GA using natural and locally-sourced ingredients like Georgia pecans.

Granny Pearl’s Kitchen was featured in the “What’s New, What’s Hot” showcase at the 2015 Summer Fancy Food Show which ran from June 28 – 30. Hosted by the Specialty Food Association, the Summer Fancy Food Show is the largest specialty food trade event in North America and the leading showcase of industry innovation, bringing 180,000 products, 25,000 buyers, and 2,500 exhibitors under one roof for three days.

John Shackelford, founder of Granny Pearl’s Kitchen, says, “We were delighted that retailers of all sizes, from mom and pop family-owned businesses to big box retailers with hundreds of national and international locations, came by our booth to sample the big flavor of our bite size cookies. Granny would be thrilled at the delicious buzz her cookies are creating.” Shackelford went on to say that he launched the company to honor his grandmother’s memory and the cookies she loved to bake for family and friends.

Granny’s oldest cookie recipe, the sugardoodle is a delicious combination of a traditional sugar cookie with the added spiciness of a snickerdoodle. The packaging for that cookie, the recipient of the ADDY award in packaging design, is a rendering of Granny Pearl’s own home.

Inspired by Shackelford’s work as an architect, the architecturally themed packaging pays homage to classic southern homes. The award-winning packaging stands out on store shelves and captivates customers while the cookies’ delectable taste keeps them coming back for more.

In addition to the house packaging, Granny Pearl’s cookies are also available in smaller Pocket Tidbit packs. These are the perfect size to carry in a pocket, purse, or lunch box.
