Thacher Executive Search is conducting the search for a Vice President of Manufacturing and Logistics for Kate Farms (“Company”), located in Santa Barbara, California. Kate Farms is a 5-year-old, privately held and fast growing food manufacturing and marketing company that has won numerous awards and achieved national recognition. The Company’s mission is to build a non GMO, good-for-you meal replacement beverage business. The Vice President of Manufacturing and Logistics will report to the CEO and will be responsible for all supply chain activities, including sourcing and co-packer management, product certification management, quality assurance, logistics, supply chain budgeting, identifying COGS and cost reduction opportunities, production flow, inventory management, import/export processes, shipping, order management and purchasing.
The ideal candidate for this position will have spent time with a larger, more sophisticated company, but will have also spent time within a fast growing, smaller company or division. He/she should have scaled a CPG product line through a rapid growth period; ideally from $10MM to $50MM or more in revenues. This individual will have at least 10+ years of progressive experience in an operations role in a high-growth CPG or food distribution company. Medical food experience is desirable. Beverage experience is strongly preferred. Experience in the Natural products industry would be helpful, as well as direct or indirect exposure to socially responsible businesses or other cause related activities.
The ideal candidate will also have extensive experience working with screening, selecting, contracting and ensuring contract compliance with 3PL providers, co-packers and manufacturers. He/she will also have experience working with larger retailers and understand these retailers’ requirements for working with vendors. It is critical that this individual be very hands-on when needed, but also be capable of interacting with the rest of the management team at a strategic level.
